Task Group

The Uniting Alive: Hobart 2020 process is being coordinated by a task group endorsed by the Uniting Church Presbytery of Tasmania.  The task group are:

David Green (chair of the task group) is an earth scientist at University of Tasmania, a parent and grandparent who is a member of Sandy Bay congregation recently returned to Hobart from Canberra where he was an Elder in Wesley( Canberra Central) congregation.

Madeleine Shuey is a member of Wesley Uniting Church.  She enjoys the sense of identity, meaning, community and challenges which religion brings to her life.

Joanna Wierenga is a second generation Australian, interested in other cultures and ways of living, spirituality and faith expressions, and is currently employed as a Uniting Church pastor.

Helen Geard is a member of the Claremont Bagdad Congregation.  She enjoys volunteering with a number of community groups and working with the Southern Midlands Council

Carol Bennett is a Queensland-born, Northern Territory-formed, Tasmanian-dwelling minister in the Uniting Church who is passionate about the engagement between life and faith.

David Parker is a Tasmanian returned to the Island state after several years across the waters.  David has a background in retail management, is father, husband and grandfather, and in his spare time is the Minister in placement at Wesley In the City Uniting Church.

Luke Lamont has been part of the Uniting Church most of his life.    He has been involved in the running of Easter camps, youth group events, national christian youth conventions and other youth activities.

Rod Peppiatt loves being a husband, dad, son and brother.  He’s either a baby boomer or Gen Xer (loves both Pink Floyd and U2!), and a lifelong Christian who tries to see and practice resurrection.  He works as Minister of the Word in the Hobart North Uniting Church, and has a restless passion for the UCA.
